What lures devotees and travellers towards the beautiful city is the Golden Temple or Swarna Mandir – a spiritual and cultural centre of the Sikh Religion that is explored by people who follow different religions. Being the unique Gurudwara (worship place), Golden Temple was initiated by famous religious personality named Guru Ramdas Ji – the fourth Sikh Guru. It was completed by his successor named Guru Arjun Dev Ji in the year of 1601.

Amritsar got its name from the pool around the Golden Temple that is known as the pool of Nector (in Hindi – Amrit Sarovar). The Golden Temple is made of gold that you can see here. Harmandir Sahib, Amrit Sarovar, Akal Takht, and the Central Sikh Museum are the wonders to explore in the famous Golden Temple. In addition to this famous Gurudwara, there are also some wonderful attractions in the city like Jaliawala Bagh, Mata Temple, Summer Palace of Maharaja of Ranjit Singh, Ram Tirtha and the Bagha Boarder at a few km distance from the city are some must see attractions to explore here.

The city is also famous for the real Punjabi food that always lures people from across the world. You will have plenty of options to enjoy the street food and delicious Punjabi food. How to Reach Amritsar

Depends on the way of commuting you are using, Amritsar is well connected via all modes of transportation to rest of the country and world.

By Air : Indira Gandhi International Airport is the nearest international airport to reach Amritsar. However, it has a small domestic airport where there are regular flights from Delhi.

By Rail : Amritsar is well connected via rail to rest of the country. There are different trains passing through Delhi and Ambala to reach Amritsar.

By Road : National Highway 1 is the main highway to reach Amritsar. Road connectivity is of course better to reach here from Delhi and other destinations. From Delhi, you can reach Amritsar through an overnight journey.
